Equipment

  • Sandwich press (alternatively, an oven)
  • Knife for spreading
  • Baking sheet (if using an oven)

Ingredients

  • 1 sweet bread roll (like Hawaiian bread or an egg roll)
  • 1-2 tablespoons cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tablespoons strawberry jam (preferably not jelly)
  • 2-3 ounces sliced turkey breast

Instructions

  • Start by slicing the sweet bread roll in half.
  • On one half of the bread, spread a layer of softened cream cheese.
  • Over the cream cheese, spread the strawberry jam evenly.
  • Place the sliced turkey breast on top of the jam.
  • If you have a sandwich press, toast the sandwich until it's warm and the bread is slightly crispy. Without a press, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C), place the sandwich on a baking sheet, and toast until warm.

Notes

  • Bread Choice Matters: Opt for a soft, slightly sweet bread like Hawaiian rolls or brioche to complement the sweet and savory flavors of the fillings.
  • Balance the Spread: Ensure a balanced ratio of cream cheese to jam to avoid overpowering either flavor. Too much jam can make the sandwich overly sweet, while too much cream cheese can dull the other flavors.
  • Quality of Ingredients: Use high-quality turkey breast for the best flavor. The taste and texture of the sandwich are significantly influenced by the quality of the meat.
  • Adjust to Your Taste: Feel free to modify the amount of each ingredient according to your personal taste preferences. Some might prefer more cream cheese or jam, while others might like a thicker layer of turkey.
  • To Press or Not to Press: If you have a sandwich press, use it for a crispy exterior. If not, toasting in an oven is a great alternative. The method of heating affects the texture of the bread and the overall experience of the sandwich.
