Ingredients
  

  • 2 kg ripe guavas
  • 1/2 kg white sugar
  • Water

Instructions
 

  • Begin by peeling the guavas. Slice each guava in half and remove all the pulp and seeds with a teaspoon, trying to keep the fruit's mass as intact as possible.
  • Place the guava shells in a medium or large pot and add enough water to cover the guavas by about two fingers' height.
  • Cook over high heat until it begins to boil. Once boiling, remove from heat and discard the water.
  • Return the guava shells to the pot and add half the sugar. Cook over medium heat for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
  • After 10 minutes, add the remaining sugar and continue cooking, stirring continuously until the sugar is completely melted and the guava shells are soft.
  • Remove from heat and allow the guava shells to cool to room temperature before refrigerating.
